Golconda Fort

Golconda Fort is the most wonderful fort complex in India, which lies on the western border about 11 km from Hyderabad. This monument is constructed on a granite hill 120 metres high, bordered by considerable crenellated ramparts.

Golla Konda or Shepherd’s hill has an exciting story at the back of it. A shepherd boy appears an icon on the stony hill known ‘Mangalavaram’ in 1143.

Golconda involves different forts with a lengthy exterior wall having 87 semi circular bastions. Several still mounted with eight gateways, cannons, drawbridges and numerous halls, royal apartments, mosques, stables, temples and magazines. At Fateh Darwaza can be felt the extraordinary acoustical possessions, feature of the manufacturing marvels at Golconda.

The offices of Madanna and Akanna, two main Hindu officials in the Qutab Shahi Court are added up. There is also considered to be secret alternative channel leading from the ‘Durbar Hall’ to the palaces at the base of the mount. The mausoleums of the Qutub Shahi Kings, constructed through Islamic design lie about 1 km north of the external wall of Golconda. This beautiful monument is just about the landscaped gardens.

A new attraction is a light and sound show at the Golconda Fort, which gets the legend of this fort to life. The show is offered in Telugu, English and Hindi.
